For all you eastern hunters that have been out this year, have you all been seeing many deer at all? The past 5 trips I’ve seen a total of 3 deer. I believe the big EHD outbreak last year really put a hurting on the deer population out here...

For as many times as I've been, the deer sightings have been low. Some does here and there and 4 small bucks here in floyd and 1 decent 8 in perry that I let walk. 1 of the bucks I saw in floyd was an 8 point and he was grunting heavy at some does that came up. For the most part it's been really dead and the fact they made gun season a week longer makes you wonder if they even know what they're doing anymore. You cant convince me an extra week of gun season is beneficial to the deer after that outbreak last year.

I hunt mainly in Laurel county but, I have a property I hunt in Clay county. Business as usual in Laurel but, the amount of sign and deer sightings is almost nonexistent on the Clay county farm. Seems as if the EHD stopped at our county line.

Low, but better than last year I guess. The last four times out in Floyd co Ive saw one doe and one buck. Most low in elevation..Not many acorns.. Ive seen far more deer in the bottoms next to the roads picking grass than I have in the hills

I’m in Perry and it’s definitely better this year than last but nothing compared to what it was before the outbreak. Hard hunting in these hills period!

No acorns here in knott either. Wasting ur time hunting high unless they have some browse or corn.

They were talking about the lack of acorns at the quota hunt. Even the dept employees.

Yeah weakest acorn year since I've been here, so they are destroying plots. Can't complain to much I guess cause that's what I planted em for! Eastern Kentucky deer (9)

I honestly have no idea what the deer are doing around me . I've got probably 6 acres of oats , winter wheat , and lodina and red clover growing great with nary a deer touching it . My mineral licks we're freshened up earlier in the season and not a track . No pictures on cam yet either. It sure seems like they have taken a hard hit here but maybe there just not coming through my property much.

A friend of mine showed me a video today that he took of a black bear while bow hunting near the Morgan Fork area of Mud Creek over the weekend...that's fairly close to you, right?

In the woods or on the water

No acorns here in Harlan either. We didn’t seem to get hit as hard with the EHD as everyone else. I’ve seen deer all over the highways at night but buck sign is scarce so far. I put in 12 miles of walking over the past 3-4 days and not found the first scrape and only a few rubs on the points of ridges. Trails and scat says deer are here but they haven’t gotten worked up yet. I look for a switch to flip overnight. Hope I’m right.

Places I hunt in central ky are loaded with white and red acorns this year. It's literally slick in places so many are on the ground. Funny how it can be so different from one area of the state to another.
